About Me
Hi! I'm Hools Kay (they/them). Since I learned to open my mouth, I began singing. I caught the live performance bug in my first musical at the age of eight and never looked back.
Musicals have been the foundation of my artistry, but since moving to Toronto in 2012, I've expanded my repertoire to other forms of art, including improv comedy, musical comedy, film performance, and immersive theatre.
Creative Expressions
I have found many different ways to connect with audiences over the years. From my solo show, Drink of Choice (Toronto Fringe 2019 Patron's Pick), to my digital series, Aced It (IPF Development and Production Fund 2024). I feel the most connected when sharing stories of personal experience with others to help those who have felt erased feel seen.
Most Recent On Camera
I began creating my own work with my production company Wade Kay Productions, participating in the 48hr Film Project. As well as continuing to work on my series, now in partnership with Longhope Media

Frequently Asked Questions
What inspires your creative process?
Since I started storytelling with my own lived experiences and identity, I have found I really connect with others who have felt their voice has not been heard in the mainstream media. I intend to fix this with creating from a place of personal narrative.
What types of art do you create?
While I come from a live performance background, I have spent a lot of time in other mediums. You can check out my other pages for art commissions (digital art and graphic design). I really found a love for writing, and have various projects on the go. And I also work in the art department office or on set as an AD in the DGC.
How can I contact you?
For bookings, reach out to my agent, Maggie Dunlop.
For connecting, art making, and collaborating, feel free to email me personally.
Do you accept commissions?
Yes! I have many different kinds of physical and digital mediums. I've been commissioned for paintings, crochet animals, twitch emotes, and digital gifts. Feel free to contact me through email if you're interested!
What is your background?
I started in musical theatre, graduating from St. Lawrence College. Moved to Toronto and found my footing at The Second City, completing the conservatory, and worked as a swing for their Christmas show Twist Your Dickens. And have self taught all my film training beginning with Female Therapy, a 6x18 digital series fully funded, produced, and created by me.
Where can I follow your work?
Check out my IG for the most updated live show, or filmed media (@HookSlayBae). I also have a YouTube channel where I talk about board games (@HoolsRules), you can find out more about that here.
