BiographyHools Kay (she/they) is a creator extraordinaire. She studied Musical Theatre at St. Lawrence College then moved to Toronto in May 2012 and took The Second City Conservatory program. Hools has produced/written several short videos including two web-series and few one act plays for various festivals.
In 2018 they produced a short film called '#BasicBaes' that appeared in many Film Festivals, performed Shakespeare in Bercy Park with Dauntless City Theatre in 'Much Ado About Nothing' and started a sketch troupe that also made a short film titled 'Forever Alone'. In 2019 she wrote 'Drink of Choice' and performed it in the Toronto Fringe Festival with a semi-autobiographical choose-your-own-journey solo show that had rave reviews, which went on to have a remount in October at the Factory Theatre. When the pandemic hit, along with the entire world, Hools had to really rethink what was work versus what was art. They learned to crochet and made a couple commission based projects from that. She picked up some digital art and again was lucky enough to have friends pay for some photos. While scrambling around for rent Hools stumbled into a film production office and has been working on various productions including 'Luckiest Girl Alive' (Picture Start) starring Mila Kunis and the TV series 'Chucky' (NBC). Within all the chaos she also hosted her own radio show with Alphabet Radio called 'Aced It' for a few months that aired in the UK, and wrote a piece for a published novel about struggling to create in a global pandemic called 'A Stage Light Flickers'. Hools is constantly curious where their career and life will take her next, but in the meantime they enjoy a good cup of coffee from an indie hipster coffee joint, and cuddling her sweet furbaby Mrs. Lola Peanutbutter. |
